Heidelberg's Lord Mayor Dr. Eckart Würzner will not be able to attend the event on October 15 (9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.) due to a business trip elsewhere. Nevertheless, he is following the innovation-driven clean-tech exchange in the university city with great interest. In a message to InnovationLab in the run-up to the event, Würzner addresses all participants and interested parties: "The energy transition will only succeed if we push ahead with innovations in the field of renewable energies at full speed. Heidelberg is leading the way here: we are focusing on a strong expansion of photovoltaics in the city. The PV systems in Heidelberg already supply around 14,000 four-person households with electricity. New buildings of the city and municipal companies have been equipped with solar modules as a matter of course for many years. Together with hydropower, wind power, a planned river heat pump and environmentally friendly district heating from a wood-fired combined heat and power plant and biogas, we have a successful energy mix. The new energy storage facility in Pfaffengrund is a visible sign of this. Heidelberg is therefore the ideal location to talk about the latest innovations in the field of sustainable energy at the CLEAN TECH INNOVATION DAY & SOLAR TAP INDUSTRY DAY."
Our technology transfer platform InnovationLab will once again provide the perfect professional and atmospheric setting in the architecturally striking sandstone HCC building, which will open in 2024. Keynote speaker Dr. Gunter Erfurt, former CEO of the Swiss company Meyer Burger Technology AG, will get the experts in the mood for the symposium. In three sessions, renowned speakers will shed light on the topic of hydrogen and solar energy from various angles.
