"Clean Tech Innovation Day":
Hydrogen in the
industrial use
It is an eagerly awaited premiere for our InnovationLab GmbH: the "Clean Tech Innovation Day" will take place on November 11. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Level 2 in the chic and neighboring Heidelberg Congress Center will be the venue for the all-day hydrogen symposium.
"I'm really looking forward to the symposium. On the one hand, renowned experts from several parts of Germany will meet and network at this event. On the other hand, I am delighted that we will be using the HCC - a special architectural and atmospheric location - for the first time for a hydrogen event in Heidelberg," says Dr. Michael Kröger, Managing Director of iL since 1 April 2022.
The aim of the expert meeting is in particular to network partners from a wide variety of backgrounds who share a common level of knowledge, technology and interest in innovation and industrialization in clean tech as well as ecological and economic criteria for sustainable, resource-conserving management.
Michael Kröger: "Varied program"
The "Clean Tech Innovation Day" is aimed at a broad audience of participants, from science to business, from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and beyond. The speakers are recruited from companies that develop, supply or use hydrogen technologies, but also from excellent research institutions and technology start-ups. "The varied and coherent program provides the event with an exciting content framework that our participants, especially those from the industrial environment, will use for networking," says Michael Kröger. Keynote presentations, specialist lectures and a discussion panel on hydrogen technologies, production and use will be offered to interested parties at the HCC. The panel discussion is entitled "The path to viable demonstration plants and use cases". The three sessions will focus on the role of start-ups, market demand and applications in the clean-tech sector and the current status of hydrogen technologies.

H2UB and metropolitan region as co-partners
The "Clean Tech Innovation Day" is significantly supported by the H2UB innovation platform from Essen, which is highly regarded throughout Europe. H2UB was launched in October 2021 and has since been connecting companies in the hydrogen economy with start-ups, spin-offs and research institutes in order to build an ecosystem and accelerate the market ramp-up of the hydrogen economy. The Essen-based organization has established itself as a cluster initiative in just under three years. More than 100 start-ups are now part of the incubator and accelerator's expert network.
The second co-partner of organizer and host iL is the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, which has been committed to the development of a cross-sector hydrogen economy for many years. Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar GmbH is happy to take on the role of mediator between business, politics, science and the general public when it comes to implementing national and international guidelines. Its extensive networking work has resulted in specific projects, such as the HyPerformer project "H2Rivers" and the "H2Rhein-Neckar" project funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg, which is promoting the conversion of local public transport to emission-free vehicles.

Electrolyzers in focus
Electrolysers have recently been the focus of particular public interest. A documentary about hydrogen was recently shown on ARD, entitled: "Industry in danger - where is the hydrogen?" The 45-minute documentary is can be viewed in the ARD media library and focuses on the question of how a green hydrogen economy can succeed in the near future. It has been clear for some time that only the widespread use of electrolysers can turn renewable electricity into green hydrogen.
H2 professionals meet H2 professionals in Heidelberg - the participants meet interesting partners who deal with the topic of hydrogen along the value chain in the field of electrolysers (stacks, components and materials). From a technological perspective, electrolysers and fuel cells are closely related.
Innovative start-ups complement the illustrious group of participants in that they stand for moments of surprise and technological refinements that will certainly enrich the entire ecosystem.
