State of the Art
research infrastructure
We offer our customers from the academic and business communities a unique infrastructure for research and development, featuring state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment, as well as an interdisciplinary work environment with a coworking concept that harnesses synergies and provides a decisive competitive advantage.
Laboratories and equipment...
... for your research and development
At our centrally located facility in Heidelberg, we have fully equipped laboratory and office spaces, as well as modern conference and break rooms, spread across a total area of approximately 6,200 m². Our unique shared-spaces concept fosters collaboration and co-innovation from the initial idea all the way to a market-ready product.
We offer comprehensive support, ranging from office and lab organization to safety management, as well as material ordering and disposal. We handle the day-to-day operations so you can focus on what matters most: your business idea and your innovations.
With us, everything is close at hand: our office and lab spaces are located on the same floor, right next to each other, and the cleanroom is just 100 meters away in a building that is part of the complex.
You can get started right away: Whether it's S1 and S2 labs or cleanrooms—everything is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and can be customized to meet your needs.
From basic research to the development of new system solutions, InnovationLab supports the visions of young scientists. As they bring their ideas to life, they benefit from our equipment and the expertise of numerous research and industry partners based at InnovationLab, all within an interdisciplinary environment.
Take advantage of our regional and international network partners from the academic and business communities.
ISO Class 7 Cleanrooms
Controlled cleanroom conditions for the highest quality standards: Our Class 7 cleanroom areas provide you with a precisely monitored environment with low particle levels. Thanks to state-of-the-art air filtration technology, controlled processes, and strict quality standards, we create optimal conditions for sensitive applications in research, development, and production. This allows you to benefit from maximum process reliability and reproducible results.
With a total area of over 1,000m², our cleanrooms represent the largest contiguous laboratory complex at the Heidelberg site.
S1 and S2 laboratories
Safety at the highest level: In our S1 and S2 laboratories, you benefit from optimal conditions for microbiological testing. State-of-the-art laboratory facilities, strict hygiene standards, and comprehensive safety measures ensure reliable results and the best possible protection for people and the environment.
ISO Class 5 Yellow Room
Precision under controlled conditions: In our Class 5 cleanroom, you benefit from a high-purity working environment for sensitive processes and analyses. Special lighting, controlled environmental conditions, and state-of-the-art cleanroom technology minimize interference and ensure the highest quality standards—ideal for demanding applications in research, development, and production.
equipment pool
Our equipment inventory includes state-of-the-art laboratory instruments for a wide range of R&D applications. A particular highlight is the nano scripe Quantum X bio, which enables cutting-edge printing processes at the nanoscale.
With the nano scripe Quantum X bio, you can take advantage of a powerful platform for precise 3D bioprinting. The system enables the production of complex 3D structures, microfluidic systems, and custom designs using biocompatible materials. Controlled temperature and humidity conditions, along with HEPA-filtered air, create a sterile and cell-friendly working environment. Ideal for research, development, and innovative applications in biofabrication.
What Our Clients Say
Research at InnovationLab
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
Drawing on his many years of experience at the InnovationLab, Professor Dr. Gerardo Hernandez-Sosa (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology—KIT) explains why the location offers a perfect working environment for his research group.
"We came here because we were looking for a platform where we could further develop microfluidics technologies.
"In addition to using the cleanroom, we benefit above all from interacting with people who, in some cases, work in completely different fields. We're always interested in further developing our technology, and a significant amount of input for our new technology also comes from the InnovationLab."
