GENESIS 26
The LIFE SCIENCE TECH DAY
Disease modeling and drug testing of the next generation
In Heidelberg's innovation corridor: where forward-looking industry meets cutting-edge science — and top universities meet applicable high-tech. The Genesis 26 event creates growth and success through collaboration.
How can disease processes be simulated more realistically and active substances tested more quickly, safely and reproducibly? This question is the focus of the next LIFE SCIENCE TECH DAY 2026, which will be hosted by our InnovationLab in Heidelberg on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
To the event
What can you expect as a participant?
Be part of our Genesis 26 event—our version of a Falling Walls-style science summit—this time at one of Heidelberg's cultural venues.
We bring together leading technology pioneers with translational science and visionaries from the public sector to develop new approaches and disruptive ideas through exchange and cooperation. Immerse yourself in inspiring sessions moderated by academic experts. International high-tech companies and start-ups present their innovations and expertise as catalysts for the sessions. The event will also feature insights from an outstanding group project at Heidelberg University on reproducible tissue culture, robotics, and scalable assays in a lightning talk.
The Alte Hallenbad Heidelberg (women's bath) is a cultural and historical event venue in the heart of the city, just a few minutes' walk from the old town and public transportation—a combination of tradition and a focused environment for valuable exchange.

On the topic
What can you expect as a participant?
This year, the event will focus on technologies related to integrated 3D, human-derived systems—from organoids to organ-on-a-chip (brain/heart/intestine; disease models; cancer; drug testing). The specific technological pillars and methods will be shaped by the speakers. Expect deep dives into precision microfabrication for compartmentalized tissues and barrier models; advanced bioinks and biofabrication for reproducible constructs; microfluidic platforms with valves, perfusion, and on-chip environments; and smart materials that enable membranes, scaffolds, and soft actuation. We will highlight high-throughput automation for dispensing, spotting, and sample handling; integrated sensing and micro/nanoelectronics for electrical, optical, and chemical measurements; and AI-powered imaging pipelines that connect capture, analysis, and closed-loop experiments. Together, these building blocks flow into scalable screening platforms that transition seamlessly from proof-of-concept to robust, real-world application.
