Light TechnologyInstitute (LTI)
The research group of the Light Technology Institute (LTI) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) located at InnovationLab is led by Prof. Dr. Uli Lemmer, Prof. Dr. Gerardo Hernández-Sosa, and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Wilhelm Paetzold.
Their focus is on investigating materials and advanced component architectures for the fabrication of printed optoelectronic systems using industry-relevant technologies.
Component Architecture...
... using "Printed Electronics"
The LTI research group "Printed Electronics" investigates novel materials and complex component architectures for the fabrication of optoelectronic systems using industry-relevant printing technologies. Current research topics include light-emitting diodes (LEDs), solar cells, and photodiodes. A central part of the research activities involves the development of corresponding ink formulations and printing processes to enhance the performance of printed components.
Furthermore, the integration of printed organic-electronic components into complex systems is investigated. Additionally, the group of Prof. Dr. Hernández-Sosa focuses on the use of biodegradable and biocompatible materials for the fabrication of optoelectronic devices. The fundamental principle consistently involves combining state-of-the-art printing techniques with the theme of more sustainable and environmentally friendly materials to produce cost-effective and "green" electrical components. This spans from fundamental research to the development of new system solutions.
