The research group of the Light Technology Institute (LTI) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) at the InnovationLab is led by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Uli Lemmer, Prof. Dr. Gerardo Hernández-Sosa and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Wilhelm Paetzold.
They focus on the investigation of materials and modern component architectures for the production of printed optoelectronic systems with industry-relevant technologies.

The "Printed Electronics" research group at the LTI investigates novel materials and complex component architectures for the production of optoelectronic systems using industry-relevant printing technologies. Current research topics include light-emitting devices (LEDs), solar cells and photodiodes. A central part of the research activities is the development of appropriate ink formulations and printing processes to increase the performance of printed components.
The integration of printed organic-electronic components into complex systems is also being investigated. In addition, Prof. Dr. Hernández-Sosa's group is working on the use of biodegradable and biocompatible materials for the production of optoelectronic components. The basic principle is always to combine state-of-the-art printing techniques with more sustainable and environmentally friendly materials to produce cost-effective and "green" electrical components. From basic research to the development of new system solutions.
