FLEXOO premiere at LOPEC
It is the world's leading international platform for printed electronics: Every year, LOPEC (Large-area, Organic & Printed Electronics Convention) attracts players from all continents, from application to research, to the high-tech metropolis of Munich. Following in the footsteps of InnovationLab GmbH's traditional participation, our spin-off FLEXOO GmbH celebrated its premiere in the Isar metropolis this year.
Dr. Janusz Schinke: Relaunch well received
"For our company, attending this trade fair is both an obligation and a privilege. With our presence and team on site, we have impressively demonstrated that we are ready for mass production. We are breaking new ground with a fresh design and approach to the future of FLEXOO. The positive feedback on the relaunch was one thing, the high recognition value among our customers and partners was another. We were really delighted about that."

After three days at the International Congress Center (ICM) at Messe München, which hosted a total of 176 exhibitors from 28 countries and attracted over 2,400 visitors from 48 countries, the FLEXOO team returned home satisfied. The first public appearance of the iL spin-off start-up can be considered a success. "Our booth was open, inviting, and colorful," reports Dr. Florian Ullrich, Head of Business Development at FLEXOO. "We had many conversations and, thanks to the visualization of the applications, were able to convince many of the interested parties that our work is characterized by quality, flexibility, and quantity in production."
Whether it was the BaMoS (Battery Monitoring Solution) demonstrator or the thematically sorted showcases such as antennas, Flex-PCBs (flexible printed circuit boards), large area sensors, heating elements, and the display of differently printed rolls – the bottom line is that the exhibition products proved to be eye-catchers, generating a decent number of leads in Munich.

Dr. Florian Ullrich praises teamwork
"Everything went smoothly. My thanks go to all my colleagues who did an excellent job in the run-up to the trade fair and during the event itself," said Florian Ullrich.
The last few weeks before LOPEC had turned into a real "mad dash." The logo, website, business cards, presentations, etc. had to be finished by the beginning of March. Joanna Folberth, Head of Marketing, and marketing intern Laura Scheffner worked with external agencies to create a professional image. Janusz Schinke recounts an encounter with a potential customer in an anecdotal manner. "If you work as quickly on projects as your marketing team has been working over the past few weeks, I'll be very impressed," the candidate said to the FLEXOO managing director. "That's our usual pace," Janusz Schinke replied with a wink.

Two presentations at the conference
Away from the day-to-day business at the lively FLEXOO booth BO.406, Dr. Christoph Kaiser and Dr. Jean-Nicolas Tisserant each gave two presentations to a well-attended plenary session at the electronics industry congress, which is taking place concurrently. Both Christoph Kaiser ("FLEXOO – Your Product, Our Mission") and Jean-Nicolas Tisserant ("Prime Mode – Piezoresistive Pressure Sensor") presented the structure of their new companies and highlighted advances in the possibility of performing quantitative and differentiated pressure measurements using printed electronics. The important message here was that FLEXOO, as an iL spin-off, remains committed to scientific and technical excellence, virtually unchanged.
LOPEC at a glance
FLEXOO was one of 176 exhibitors at LOPEC 2024 in the ICM. 60 percent of these came from abroad. The top five exhibiting countries this time were Germany, the USA, France, Sweden, and Spain. More than 2,400 visitors from 48 countries and regions flocked to the Munich Trade Fair Center from March 5 to 7, with international visitors accounting for around 55 percent of the total. According to the organizers, the top five visitor countries besides Germany were Austria, France, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and Finland.
The date for the next LOPEC has also already been set: From February 25 to 27, 2025 (trade fair: February 26 and 27), Munich will once again be the venue for innovative technologies and knowledge transfer in the exciting electronics industry.
